(Neues Leben)
Schreib mir in die Kommentare, was du dabei erlebt hast.
Did you notice? You see or hear something and think about it all day long. You see an ad and all day long you think, do I need it and when do I need it. Until you’re convinced that you need it and you need it now. Or you see something on TV, something mean. Maybe you can’t sleep or you can’t get the pictures out of your mind. Or somebody gossips about someone else. Does that change your view or your behaviour towards that person? Maybe you’re unhappy because you don’t live the standard the media shows you. Maybe you’re unhappy because somebody told you you’re not beautiful, not smart, not valuable. Maybe you yourself are telling someone else exactly that.
Cleo’s advice: just don’t look/listen.
Why? Because everything that goes in from the outside – through eyes and ears – will establish itself in our heart. And there our thoughts and our words and deeds develop.
The Bible puts it like this in Proverbs 4:23
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. (New Living Translation)
How does that work? Guarding your heart?
*Look thankfully on what you have – that way your heart will not keep longing for more and more
*Don’t listen to bad talks – that way you won’t want to join in.
*Don’t let anyone convince you that you’re not good enough – you are precious and loved!
*Say good-bye to what is bad. Surround yourself with what is good. That applies for things as well as for people.
*Most of all: stay close to Jesus – He is way, truth and life, He is a lamp to your feet, He is the Alpha and Omega, He is all you need! He sent the Holy Spirit to show you where you’re at. And if you listen to Him, He’ll have the best advice for your conduct of life every day. Even if you find yourself in the bad situation – He’ll take your view and puts it back on the good things. The more good things I store in my heart, the less room is there for bad things and the more good things will come out of me. Why do I say that? Because I experienced it – countless times.
I challenge you to try to send away every negative thought and to concentrate on the good things in the coming week. Leave a comment about what you experienced. And don’t forget Cleo’s advice – sometimes simply not looking already helps.
