This is the news that popped up first on my facebook-site https://www.t-online.de/nachrichten/panorama/katastrophen/id_86691016/bayern-erdbeben-erschuettert-nordbayern-seltenheit-in-der-region.html
We all know what an earthquake is. Maybe even from experience. That‘s why I found it quite astonishing to read that not even 1 km from my house there was an earthquake. This past Saturday at around 1am.
Can you sleep through something like that? The news which came through several news channels sounded more like a joke. But it turned out that it wasn‘t. Still, in the area people chuckled about the rather sensational headlines. Yes, earth had trembled in a depth of 2 km and at a magnitude of 2.5 on the Richter scale. And so the residents slept through this – in our region – very rare event.
One though who actually experienced a „real“ earthquake – like my brother when visiting his wife‘s family in Lima/Peru of like my husband‘s relatives in the Caribbean – an earthquake where photos fell off the walls, furniture fell over or the ceiling came down, absolutely doesn‘t find this whole situation funny. I am very thankful that earth here just trembled a little bit inside.
At this time of year I also am thankful for the bright orange shining from my fireplace. The same orange terrifies the people in California right now. The firefighters are having a really hard time trying to extinguish the flames and many houses have been destroyed already.
There are crazily many things that can turn from good or normal to a disaster.
- A small financial shortage becomes bancruptcy,
- a sadness becomes depression,
- a fulfilling job becomes a burnout,
- an amorousness becomes an obsession,
- a doubt becomes capitulation.
This list definitely can be extended by many things. But it also works the other way round. And that is wonderful!
- So a doubt can also become deep faith,
- an amorousness becomes deep, intimate love,
- a fulfilling job becomes a calling,
- a sadness becomes joy,
- a small financial shortage becomes a new business idea.
And even where wild fire has once raged, nature will reclaim its territory. Just look what the area around volcanos looks like. It takes its time but the soil there is immensely fertile.
And where there was an earthquake, new things can develop.
Oh, and if there is a fierce shaking inside of you, it is your choice: either you give into that quake inside or you take the opportunity to clean up decently, declutter and start anew. It is your decision.
What do you think?
